Neighbourhood Cancer Simulation Wembley

We have had the privilege of being asked to take part in the Neighbourhood Cancer Simulation at Wembley. Alongside Macmillan teams, NHS Partners, and the wider VCSE Community, we explore new ways of working within cancer pathways and treatment.

This experience wasn’t just about systems or structures; it was about people.

The Neighbourhood Health Cancer Simulation brought together over 100 professionals across three layers- care and coordination, operational management, and planning.

They included Oncology Professionals , GPs, Social Workers, Chaplains, Pharmacists, Welfare Rights Advisers, Commissioners, Public Health Directors, Chief Executives, Community Organisation Leaders, and Residents with lived experience of cancer.

A few themes came through in how we need to start by understanding the assets that already exist within our communities and recognise that collaboration doesn’t happen by good intent alone; everyone in the system needs to own and feel that shared responsibility.

At BLESS, our heart has always been communication, community, and human connection, and this trip reminded me why that matters.

We met the most inspiring humans: dedicated professionals, compassionate leaders, and courageous cancer survivors whose stories carry strength, honesty, and hope.

Their lived experiences are the real blueprint for change. VCSE Organisations play a crucial role in shaping the future of cancer care, bringing community voice, lived experience, and grassroots connection into every conversation.

Julie, who attended on our behalf, felt deeply grateful and honoured to be part of this simulation, listening, learning, and helping shape a future where cancer care feels human at every step.

Where pathways make sense, where kindness is standard, where communities stand together, where no one should face cancer alone.

BLESS Community support will continue to champion connection, compassion, and collaboration as we work with Macmillan, NHS Teams, VCSE Partners, and Neighbourhood Groups to build something truly meaningful.

Human connection is the pathway.

Kindness is the treatment.

COMMUNITY is the CURE. 💚
